Overseas Student Admission for the Academic Year 2011-2012

                University of Tabriz as one of the top 10 universities of Iran has recently updated its courses and introduced new programs both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is considering extensively admitting international students in all available programs as of September 2011. Therefore, we invite foreign applicants who might be interested in pursuing their studies at the University of Tabriz to send their requests to the International Relations Office at international@tabrizu.ac.ir.

Required Documents for Application 

·         A letter of request and filled in application form

·         Certified official copies of the academic degree(s) and records (in English) endorsed by the education authorities and Iranian embassy in the applicant’s country.

·         Certificate of general good standing Iranian embassy or representative offices.

·         A certificate of good physical and mental health.

·         A certificate of proficiency in Persian language

·         A copy of the applicant’s passport as identification card.

·         Affidavit of financial support (not required for self-financed students)

·         Six recent passport sized photographs

·         An official letter the registrar’s office of the last institution attended indicating the student’s educational status (for applicants in their last semester).

Admission procedures

As a general practice with all Iranian state-run higher institutions, all applications are initially processed by the evaluation committees in the related Departments and Post-Graduate Studies Branches respectively. Once the committees take necessary preliminary decisions and (only if) favorable consideration is given to a specific application, the case is sent on to the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) for final assessment of the applicants\' general qualification. As soon as the institutions receive official positive response MSRT indicating verification of general qualification, the applicants are immediately notified of the result and an official admission is accordingly extended to him/her by the University of Tabriz.

Applicants should note that after each single request is registered as arrived by the International Relations office, it usually takes, as a general rule, at least 1 to 2 months for the concerned Departments on and off campus to finalize handling the applications coming abroad, so all applicants are strongly recommended to enclose the official copies of the academic degree(s) and records certified by the Iranian embassy in the applicant’s country to his/her official request and send them to the University of Tabriz considering the time period required for completion of the  evaluation processes. The university will normally not be able to process the incomplete applications or applications that arrive after the expiration of deadlines mentioned above.
