University of Tabriz among top 5 universities

At the latest ranking position of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), University of Tabriz won fifth position among Iranian universities.

According to UT Public Relations, University of Tabriz Chancellor, announced the news declaring that based on ISC newly-released report, University of Tabriz has gained this ranking from among 72 Iranian comprehensive universities,

Prof. Mohammad Reza Pour-Mohammadi reiterated that this ranking is annually made based on a number of scientific indicators such as "Research Quality" and "The Number of Highly-Cited Papers (Q1 or Q2), which, in turn, indicates that UT has been successful in publishing high-quality papers in internationally accredited Journals".

He noted that UT international academic collaboration agreements with accredited institutions, the number of joint papers with foreign authors and the number of scientific books published are among other determining indicators indexed by ISC, adding that in the newly published national ranking of ISC, Tehran university, Tarbiat Modarres University, Shiraz University, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, University of Tabriz, University of Shahid Beheshti, Isfahan University, Zanjan Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences, Bu-Ali Sina University and University of Kashan won the first position to tenth respectively.

The same report points out that the Islamic World Science Citation Center, in its classification published for the academic year 1394-1395, has ranked a total of 159 Iranian state universities and research centers within five subcategories or subgroup including "Comprehensive Universities", "Industry", "Research Centers", Art Universities, and Medical Universities.
