Networking opportunities for Iranian Universities in EURIE 2020 summit

The fifth Higher Education Fair of Eurasian Universities Union was held.

According to the Public Relations Department of University of Tabriz, the 5th Conference and Higher Education Fair of Eurasian Universities Union (EURIE2020) was held in Istanbul's Congress Center from 19 to 21 of February.

In this event which was attended by more than 80 universities from more than 10 countries, as well as universities of Tabriz, Tehran, Yazd, Isfahan, Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University, Sahand University of Technology, University College of Nabi Akram, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, Kermanshah University of Technology and Qazvin Islamic Azad University, Iranian universities presented their capabilities in the field of higher education by setting up "study in Iran" pavilion.

Furthermore, University of Tabriz and its president, was in charge of the supervision of Iranian delegation, led by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

Holding specialized panels on higher education related issues and presenting them in various countries was a part of the Fair and the most prominent of these panels was entitled "Iran" and was delivered by the lectures of Vice President of Research and Technology at University of Tabriz, Director of Scientific and International Cooperation at University of Isfahan and President of the International College of Tehran University, introducing higher education in Iran and the available opportunities and facilities from various aspects.

It should be noted that from other events of the Fair included planning of the meetings between officials of Iranian universities and officials of participating universities which would have important and positive consequences and implications for the development of inter-university cooperation.

University of Tabriz, as a national reference for scientific and academic cooperation of Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Turkey, from months ago and same as the previous year, according to negotiations with the organizers of this event and attracting their attention, had provided a special package to facilitate the attendance of Iranian universities in this big international event. Meeting with President of the Eurasian Union, Dr. Mustafa Aydın, attending talks with officials of universities and also attending the opening ceremony of this event which was attended by Ministers of Science and Culture of Cyprus and Jordan, Minister of Trade and Technology of Turkey and the deputies of several important Turkish Ministries and also was accompanied by reading the message of Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, were among the plans of Dr. Majidi and the delegation at Eurasian Union's 5th Higher Education Fair.

The same report holds that, with previous plannings and coordinations, President of University of Tabriz, Vice President of Research and Technology and the Director of Scientific and International Cooperation at the university, by attending Istanbul, Yıldız Teknik, Boğaziçi and Koc universities, which are from the top and old universities of Turkey, while meeting with heads and deputies of these universities discussed ways to develop joint cooperation.

In these meetings by emphasizing the necessity of more scientific cooperation between the two Muslim countries and brotherhood of Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Turkey and the need to make the most of current scientific diplomacy, such as joint training courses in specific fields and summer courses to familiarize talented students of the two countries with universities, establishing links with growth and innovation centers, using central laboratories, holding courses in Persian language and literature, history and social sciences, launching  joint peer-reviewed journals, and exchanging faculty members and students as well as establishment of Istanbul language course at University of Tabriz were discussed .

Visiting the facilities of Istanbul Aydın University and signing an agreement of establishing joint master's degree in business management between University of Tabriz and this university was from the other intensive plans of University of Tabriz' Board during its stay in Istanbul.
