To provide meals for students, who are mostly singles, has always been a top priority for the concerned university authorities. There are subsidized student restaurants in and off campus, known as refectories. These offer a wide range of food at reasonable prices. Some 7000 male and female students are catered on and off campus everyday. Presently, there are our grand dining halls within and outside of university campus, which provide the catering services to students. These include the following:
§ The Central Refectory
§ Valiasr Dining Hall (located off-campus at the self-catering dorms of Valiasr town)
§ Only-female refectory

§ Shahrak-e-Emam refectory (located off-campus at the self-catering dorms of Imam town)
The catering units also meet catering needs of the university on different occasions such as national and international scientific gatherings, cultural ceremonies and student-oriented camping and excursions.
Regular providing and equipping the halls of residence and refectories with necessary facilities are among other services the unit is dealing with.
2. Welfare Unit
The welfare unit is here to help the student with any problem that may occur whilst he/she is at the university. Welfare unit services range finance to housing, grants to national health insurance. In another words, the central mission of the welfare unit is to provide financial assistance to the students, particularly those facing occasional financial problems. This goal is realized mainly through two main categorized forms of:
§ Student grants
§ Occasional loans
The latter one is only available to facilitate the financial side of students\' marriage; a strategic policy that is seriously followed by the university authorities. In addition to the above-mentioned financial services, welfare unit is also providing and creating part-time on-campus job opportunities for those students who may be experiencing difficulties in meeting their living and studying expenses through issuing student work permits. Meantime, the unit deals with the insurance services of the students. Presently some 100000 students have been brought under the coverage of accident insurance and approximately 5000 are provided for health insurance through Iran Insurance Agency
3. Accommodation Unit
The University of Tabriz has a policy of providing and arranging accommodation for all national and overseas students during their studying period.

Over 90 percent of the single male and female students, applying for accommodation, are now housed at one of the existing halls of residence. These married students who have already passed 70 credits, are also eligible to apply for family accommodation. In general, there are five halls of residence for the university students including:
